What is a Rule?

A rule defines what a specific clause should contain. For example: "The agreement must include a mutual termination for cause provision with a 30-day cure period." The AI uses this to evaluate contracts and suggest changes.

Rule Components

Each rule includes:

  • Title: Short name (e.g. "Limitation of Liability")

  • Category: Legal, Commercial, or Regulatory

  • Risk Level: High, Medium, or Low

  • Description: What the clause should say and why it matters

Adding Rules

Open a playbook and click to add a new rule. Fill in the title, category, risk level, and description. The more specific your description, the better the AI analysis.

Rule Quality Tips

  • Be specific about what the clause should include

  • State the minimum acceptable standard

  • Mention what's unacceptable (e.g. "Vendor-only caps are insufficient")

  • Reference industry standards where applicable
